The shed roof between the corn crib and wagon house dates to the early part of the 20th century; the section just behind it was added later.  The additions were more than likely made to provide cover for tractors and other equipment needed to keep the farm economically viable.

The back of the equipment shed also has a covered extension for a blacksmith's forge and additional equipment storage.  In the period before 1910 there was a blacksmith's shop associated with a farmhouse on two acres of land adjoining Howell Farm on Valley Road.

This photo shows the blacksmith work area behind the equipment shed. The woodshed behind the wagon house is also seen at the right.

This photo shows the corn crib on the left and the back extension of the equipment shed that holds the blacksmith work area on the right and equipment storage under the open front of the shed in the center of the photo.
