Saturday, August 24 | 10:00–4:00Children's Craft: Tambourine (11:00–3:00) Fine fiddlin’ will fill the air when some of the area’s best musicians bring their talents to the farm during the annual contest sponsored by the Hunterdon Folk Exchange. Now in its 36th year, the contest is the largest and longest-running traditional fiddle contest in New Jersey. Visitors can expect to find fiddlers, guitarists, mandolinists and more perched on porches, tucked under trees, and spread out on the lawn playing traditional folk and bluegrass music...and sharing the stories of their historic instruments. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets for the contest, which begins at 12:00 under the trees on the farmhouse lawn. The day will also feature homemade food, ice cream, horse-drawn wagon rides, a children’s craft, and a closing performance featuring 30 fiddlers. |
