Visit the farmhouse where fall canning and pickling is underway, with cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, and other kitchen garden veggies on the stove. Sample the results and take home recipes and other secrets that you can use in your own kitchen.
It's also the day when dozens of storytellers from New Jersey and the tri-state area will gather at the farm to tell tales for visitors of all ages. The program begins with a workshop on storytelling techniques and strategies, for new and experienced tellers alike (registration required; call 609-737-3299). From 1:00 – 5:00, visitors can hear storytelling performances in the horse barn, blacksmith forge, farmhouse, and other locations throughout the farm. At the end of the day, tellers will share exciting 2-minute farm tales in the Lightning Round.
